Industry 4.0 and the Role of OmniCable
Industry 4.0, also known as smart manufacturing, represents the digital transformation of the manufacturing sector, bringing real-time decision making, enhanced productivity, and agility to the forefront. By integrating advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence, and machine learning into production facilities, manufacturers are revolutionizing how they produce, improve, and distribute products.
As manufacturers integrate these advanced technologies into their operations, the need for a robust and secure network is paramount. Secure connectivity ensures that the vast amounts of data generated by smart factories are transmitted, analyzed, and acted upon in real time, without compromising the system's integrity. A secure network backbone is essential for achieving real-time decision making, predictive maintenance, and enhanced efficiencies that define Industry 4.0, ultimately driving the success of smart manufacturing.
Right Product
To enable distributors to compete in the ever-growing Industry 4.0 revolution, OmniCable recently expanded our portfolio tailored to meet the connectivity needs of the industrial automation sector. In addition to the existing stock of numerous cable and wire solutions we previously offered, our broad offering now includes cordsets, Modular Industrial Patch Panels (MIPPs), connectors, and more.
“Electrical and Automation distributors may not always realize the full range of complementary products available to them. With our expanded portfolio, distributors can tap into an extensive inventory to uncover new or expanded sales opportunities and become an even greater resource for their end-user customers" said Carmel Cunningham, Director of Business Development-Industrial Automation for OmniCable.
For greater detail on some of our new inventory, Hirschmann’s MIPPs are designed for harsh environments with high port density and versatile connector types to house both copper and fiber cables. Its modular design makes it easy to swap and maintain, making it ideal for the modern factory floor.
In addition, Lumberg’s LioN-Power System meets the increasing complexities of the Industry 4.0 environment and enables the first “plug & produce” implementation with high power for the L-coded standard. This offering provides maximum flexibility with support for PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and multi-functional I/O ports in one compact device. It’s also easy to customize the port configurations to ensure consistent, intelligent transmission between the enterprise resource planning level and sensor level.
The Right Place and Right Time
With 18 locations across North America, OmniCable provides unparalleled warehousing and logistics support to distributors. In fact, more than 95% of orders received ship the same day with a 99.8% order accuracy across our entire footprint. We also offer blind drop shipping with customized packing slips displaying our customers’ logo and address, ensuring we meet their just-in-time needs and requirements.
Our Future Together
Industry 4.0 isn’t just a trend - it’s a necessity. Smart factories equipped with sensors, embedded software, and robotics are already enabling better decision making through data collection and analysis. This is leading to increased automation, predictive maintenance, and self-optimization of processes, all contributing to greater efficiency and responsiveness.
